About this role

We are glad you are interested in joining Sutter Health as a Staff Nurse I in our Labor and Delivery unit. In this role, you will perform routine assignments and develop competence by completing structured work assignments, while being accountable for the assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include delivering holistic and individualized care to all patients in the assigned area. You will develop, implement, and manage an optimal interdisciplinary plan of care that incorporates psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors to ensure comprehensive support.

You will foster and maintain collaborative relationships with patients, their families, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communications. Adhering to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations, you will promote a quality, highly reliable patient experience.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing prior to start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification preferred; must obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous experience as an RN in an acute care hospital is desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nursing theories, concepts, practices, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, patient care best practices, and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine assignments and develop competence through structured work assignments.
  • Assess, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
  • Deliver holistic and individualized care to all patients in the Labor and Delivery unit.
  • Develop, implement, and manage an interdisciplinary plan of care incorporating psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
  • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communications.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws/regulations to promote a highly reliable patient experience.
  • Engage in continuous growth and development in professional nursing practice.
