About this role
This role maintains standards of professional nursing practice and coordinates total nursing care for patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), considering their specific age needs. As a Staff Nurse at The University of Toledo Health Science Campus Hospital, you will provide leadership by working cooperatively with other health care professionals.
Day-to-day responsibilities include assuming the Charge Nurse role when required, rotating shifts and units, and participating in on-call duties. You will also work two weekend shifts per month and one major holiday annually, subject to UTMC's needs, demonstrating flexibility and dependability.
You will join a collaborative team within the 3D Medical Intensive Care department, where accuracy, integrity, and flexibility are valued. The environment demands strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to exercise diplomacy and tact in potentially volatile situations.

Requirements
- Active RN licensure in the State of Ohio
- BLS certification required
- Willingness to rotate shifts and units
- Ability to assume the Charge Nurse role
- Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable
- Ability to hear (with or without aides), orally communicate, and perform CPR
- Good manual dexterity and ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally
- Demonstrated ability in conflict negotiation and group facilitation skills
