This role maintains standards of professional nursing practice and coordinates total nursing care for patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), considering their specific age needs. As a Staff Nurse at The University of Toledo Health Science Campus Hospital, you will provide leadership by working cooperatively with other health care professionals.

Day-to-day responsibilities include assuming the Charge Nurse role when required, rotating shifts and units, and participating in on-call duties. You will also work two weekend shifts per month and one major holiday annually, subject to UTMC's needs, demonstrating flexibility and dependability.

You will join a collaborative team within the 3D Medical Intensive Care department, where accuracy, integrity, and flexibility are valued. The environment demands strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to exercise diplomacy and tact in potentially volatile situations.

Requirements

  • Active RN licensure in the State of Ohio
  • BLS certification required
  • Willingness to rotate shifts and units
  • Ability to assume the Charge Nurse role
  • Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable
  • Ability to hear (with or without aides), orally communicate, and perform CPR
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally
  • Demonstrated ability in conflict negotiation and group facilitation skills
