Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Nursery - NICU

2d

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health

Lebanon, US · Full-time · $90,000 – $120,000

About this role

The ICN is a 30-bed Intensive Care Nursery caring for acutely ill and premature infants from all over New Hampshire and parts of Vermont. Care is patient and family centered, with families encouraged to be present and participate in their baby’s care from the beginning. They are considered part of the care team.

Nurses provide care to infants who are critically ill as well as convalescing, with nurse to patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:3. Primary nursing is encouraged and contributes to family satisfaction. Nurses utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.

A two-person high-risk neonatal transport team includes an ICN RN trained to provide this level of care along with a respiratory care practitioner. The team manages interpersonal relationships and appropriately delegates elements of care. Critical thinking anticipates changes in patient status to modify plans or elevate to the care team.

Opportunities for professional growth come from participation in the unit-based practice council and quality improvement projects. Nurses engage in governance of practice, seek feedback to improve performance, and mentor colleagues. This full-time role involves 3x12-hour rotating shifts across weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
