Under the general direction of the Director Health Services, the Clinical Nurse Specialist demonstrates commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital. As part of the multi-disciplinary team in the Intensive Care Nursery Unit - NICU, provides leadership in promoting excellence in nursing services.
The CNS applies advanced knowledge of nursing care, research methodologies, evidence-based practice and program evaluation. Addresses key clinical issues and program priorities through clinical practice, consultation, education, research, systems support, publication and professional leadership.
Priorities are directed by program needs, with leadership in nursing practice, standards, program development, evaluation, quality and research. Join a clinical job stream in a unionized environment focused on neonatal intensive care.
Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years of recent clinical experience in a variety of nursing roles relevant to the position
- Master's of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing with graduate course work in research methods required
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba
- Experience in neonatal intensive care nursery settings
- Knowledge of research methodologies and evidence-based practice
- Ability to lead program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in promoting excellence in the delivery of nursing services through application of advanced knowledge of nursing care, research methodologies, evidence-based practice and program evaluation
- Address key clinical issues and program priorities by participating in or directing clinical practice, consultation, education, research, support of systems, publication and professional leadership
- Direct priorities based on program priorities in the Intensive Care Nursery Unit
- Provide leadership and direction related to nursing practice, standards, program development and evaluation, quality and research
- Consult on complex neonatal cases using evidence-based protocols
- Develop and evaluate programs specific to NICU patient care
- Support multi-disciplinary team in advancing neonatal nursing standards
