About this role

The Transfer Center Nurse (RN) coordinates and facilitates patient transfers into the health system from internal facilities and external hospitals. This role serves as a central communication hub. It ensures timely, efficient, and clinically appropriate placement of patients.

Coordinate patient transfers while collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, and administrative teams. Manage patient placement from the Access & Logistics Center on Midtown campus. Handle weekday night shifts from 6p-6a or 10p-6a in a PRN capacity.

Operate within a command center environment focused on capacity planning and hospital flow. Function as a patient placement nurse and patient throughput coordinator. Support DCARE initiatives for seamless hospital operations.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) in Indiana or other compact licensure state
  • Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred
  • Experience in patient placement or throughput nursing
  • Knowledge of hospital capacity management and command center operations
  • Ability to work PRN weekday night shifts (6p-6a or 10p-6a)
