Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services, the Registered Nurse provides professional registered nursing services for patients with complex and unpredictable health needs. Services include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, and a leadership role within the healthcare team. Demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region.
In the Intermediate ICU at Health Sciences Centre, facilitates coordination of patient care and discharge for critically ill patients. Manages care for those requiring close monitoring and intervention in a dynamic acute environment. Position supports Shared Health's integration of patient-centered clinical services across Manitoba.
Works within a clinical team in a unionized setting under MNU, contributing to province-wide health services. Operates in an in-person arrangement with anticipated shifts including days, nights, and weekends. Part of a structured unit focused on intermediate critical care needs.
Trainees complete the Critical Care Nursing Orientation Program within four months of hire and the Critical Care Rhythms Course as a prerequisite. Gains specialized skills through full-time orientation while building on recent acute care experience. Advances professional practice in a leading health authority.
Requirements
- 1-year recent acute care experience required
- Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program
- Successful completion of the Critical Care Nursing Orientation Program (CCNOP) within four months of hire
- Successful completion of Critical Care Rhythms Course
- Proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
- Basic Life Support training at the Health Care Provider level
- Satisfactory employment record required
