About this role

Salinas Valley Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for our 5T Telemetry unit. This per diem role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care under the supervision of the Director.

The RN collaborates with physicians, patients, and families to develop and deliver a comprehensive plan of care. Daily duties include completing nursing assessments, documenting in the patient record, and coordinating discharge planning. The nurse also provides patient and family teaching, delegates care tasks, and monitors patient responses.

Working in a supportive team environment, the RN utilizes positive communication skills to foster teamwork and resolve conflicts. The role includes serving as a preceptor and charge nurse as assigned, contributing to departmental goals, and participating in performance improvement activities.

This position offers opportunities for professional growth by acting as a resource to colleagues and engaging in in-services and committee work. The role requires flexibility to work on other nursing units based on staffing needs and to care for patients across all age groups.

Requirements

  • Current California RN license required
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status per American Heart Association standards required
  • Twelve or more months of service as a registered nurse in an acute care setting required
  • Must successfully complete a Pharmacology and EKG Test upon hire
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Completes nursing assessment of patient and documents appropriately into patient record
  • Develops a plan of care based upon assessment, age appropriate and developmental needs
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health team members in developing a plan of care
  • Provides, delegates, and coordinates the plan of care
  • Initiates, manages, and participates in discharge planning
  • Initiates, manages, and participates in patient/family teaching
  • Evaluates and updates patient’s response to plan of care
  • Acts as preceptor and charge nurse as assigned

  • Hourly rate range of $89.37 - $103.45 for new hires
  • Hourly evening shift differential of $3.00
  • Hourly night shift differential of $6.00
