About this role
The Clinical Nurse Educator supports the clinical development and successful transition of newly hired nurses, nurse residents, and experienced nursing staff in the NICU. This role focuses on delivering education and hands-on clinical instruction to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering structured educational programs through classroom lectures, simulation, skills labs, and bedside teaching. The educator provides direct support to nurse residents and new hires, reinforcing clinical standards and validating competencies across assigned clinical areas.
The educator collaborates with clinical leadership, preceptors, and interdisciplinary team members to support staff learning and development. This includes participating in clinical rounds, case discussions, and unit-based education while serving as a clinical resource during complex patient care situations.

Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oregon or compact state
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current BLS and NRP certifications
- Instructor certification in BLS and/or NRP preferred
- Experience in neonatal intensive care nursing
- Previous experience in clinical education, precepting, or teaching
- Demonstrated ability to teach and validate clinical skills and procedures
Responsibilities
- Deliver structured education for clinical staff through classroom lectures, workshops, simulation, and skills labs
- Provide formal instruction for nursing residents and newly hired nurses during orientation and specialty training
- Teach and validate clinical skills and procedures relevant to assigned NICU populations
- Conduct competency assessments and skills validations for new staff and existing team members
- Instruct and coordinate certification courses such as resuscitation and life support certifications
- Support nurse residency and transition-to-practice programs through educational instruction and mentorship
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff during complex patient care situations and participate in clinical rounds
- Partner with clinical leadership and preceptors to support learner development and identify learning needs
