About this role

The Registered RN is a professional care-giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self. Follows established policies and procedures while communicating openly with internal customers and supervisors.

Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management and physicians. Applies Cooper core values in a 35-bed level 3 nursery set up in smaller pods holding up to 4 infants. Cares for infants as young as 23 weeks gestation requiring surgical interventions and respiratory support from nasal cannula to high frequency ventilation and nitric oxide.

Cooper’s NICU has a Neonatal transport team that picks up infants needing higher level care from South Jersey hospitals. The unit consists of all Registered RNs, attending physicians, fellows, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, and Residents. Includes robust ancillary team of dedicated Respiratory Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists, Unit secretaries, and Child Life Personnel.

Requirements

  • 2 years minimum of RN pediatric critical care, NICU or similar experience
  • Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing
  • Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse)
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers)
  • Advanced certification such as NALS may be required for this specialty
