About this role

Performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients in the NICU. Assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care duties. Possesses direct access to drug products and secure medication locations to manage storage, handling, and disposal per policy.

Assists with routine patient care under Registered Nurse supervision, including ADLs, vital signs, heights, weights, universal precautions, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and recording results. Supports NICU-specific tasks like monitoring neonatal vital signs and assisting with infant comfort measures. Ensures accurate documentation in medical records.

Maintains a clean and safe work environment by clearing hallways of excess equipment and emptying full linen bags. Assists visitors and answers telephones promptly. Contributes to a supportive NICU team atmosphere.

Assists new co-workers in learning department work, fostering team knowledge sharing. Performs other duties as required or assigned in the dynamic Intensive Care Nursery setting. Builds foundational skills in specialized neonatal care.

Requirements

  • High school graduate required
  • Demonstrate keyboarding skills and familiarity with computer use
  • Previous hospital experience preferred
  • Licensed Nursing Assistant in the State of NH required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Handle secure medication areas consistent with Medication Storage and Handling Policy
