Compass Palliative Care, a leading California-based provider, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a 4-month coverage assignment in the hospital setting in the Culver City area. This inpatient role is ideal for clinicians seeking a meaningful, short-term opportunity with flexible hours and strong clinical support.

In this part-time position, you will round for 3-4 hours daily, Monday through Friday, with a specific patient load assigned to you. Your day involves assessing patients, providing palliative care to best treat each patient, and documenting diagnoses and treatment courses in patient charts.

Our palliative program is run by experienced and board-certified physicians who take pride in providing training and in-service education to their staff. They believe in the advancement of their staff as well as creating the best possible outcomes for the patients they serve.

This role offers the option for continued per diem work after the assignment concludes, providing flexibility for clinicians looking to build a sustainable practice. It is an ideal position for those who value clinical autonomy within a supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in California
  • Experience in palliative care or a related specialty (e.g., hospice, geriatrics, oncology)
  • Ability to manage a specific patient load independently
  • Proficiency in patient assessment and diagnosis in an inpatient setting
  • Skill in documenting findings and treatment plans in patient charts
  • Commitment to providing patient and family education and management
  • Willingness to participate in departmental training and quality improvement activities

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients in the inpatient hospital setting
  • Provide palliative care to best treat the patient
  • Define and document patient diagnoses
  • Assure all patients are completely satisfied
  • Provide patient and family education and management
  • Notate findings and treatment course in patient chart, including follow-up notes
  • Actively participate in departmental activities to improve training methods and achieve company goals
