Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the team on our Special Care Nursery. This part-time evening shift role focuses on providing comprehensive care to neonates and their families.

Responsibilities include performing comprehensive assessments of neonates and displaying an understanding of normal newborn transitional care. The nurse plans and delivers care to newborns with complications, identifies patient needs, and implements appropriate nursing actions.

The role involves discussing planned patient care with parents and instructing them in follow-up care activities. The nurse utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to facilitate delivery of patient care and gives knowledgeable patient reports.

Requirements

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Delaware required.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in NICU or Special Care Nursery required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • NRP certification required within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a comprehensive assessment of the neonate.
  • Displays an understanding of normal newborn transitional care including thermoregulation, glucose monitoring, and respiratory status.
  • Plans and delivers care to the newborn with complications.
  • Discusses with and includes parents about planned patient care and expected outcomes.
  • Instructs parents in follow-up care and activities in preparation for transfer or discharge.
  • Charts precise and specific observations via Focus Charting on Flow Sheets.
  • Initiates Clinical Pathways and Plan of Care on appropriate patient population on admission.
  • Identifies and appropriately utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to facilitate delivery of patient care.
