About this role

As a Plasma Center Nurse (LPN) at BioLife, you determine donor eligibility and manage adverse events. The donors you meet will motivate you as the collected plasma becomes life-changing medicines. You review lab results and notify donors of unsuitable findings.

Your daily duties include managing informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interviews, and physical examinations. You evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and handle medical emergencies with standing orders and transport. You also support Hepatitis B and Flu vaccination programs.

You report to the Plasma Center Manager as a Medical Support Specialist, working under the Center Physician for medical issues. You become familiar with plasma collection regulations and support environmental health and safety. This role combines clinical expertise with operational support.

Requirements

  • Valid LPN license in the state of practice.
  • Familiarity with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to determine donor eligibility including medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing.
  • Skill in evaluating and managing donor adverse events per SOPs.
  • Knowledge of SOPs for medical emergencies and standing orders.
  • Ability to support employee vaccination programs and manage employee incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs.
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues.
  • Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency room.
  • Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats.
